~memories that will last a lifetime~

It may be winter, but growth is visible all around Clarendon Forest Retreat

~From Childhood Memories to Adult Romance~
With twenty rewarding years as a family run retreat, we have been fortunate to have many of you come back to visit over and over again. Whether it is the horse riding, bush walking, pampering and relaxation available in this ‘post card perfect’ corner of Australia, we are honoured by the touching stories we receive from your time at Clarendon. Weddings, honeymoons, romantic getaways or family holidays; the memories you create are unique to your personal time on the property. This past month we were moved to hear the stories of two separate guests who had stayed here as children and were now returning, over a decade later, for a romantic retreat. It is a pleasure to have grown with our guests through the years.

~Renovations Commence~

Blue Wren, one of our first cottages here at Clarendon, is growing as well with renovations starting just this week. There were guests enjoying the cottage’s views right up until the day before the Atkins family closed it down for the exciting upgrades. We are thrilled to have this beloved cottage looking fabulous for the upcoming September school holidays. Those of you that have enjoyed its charm over the years will have to come see the changes upon completion.

~Hot Winter Specials~

We would like to extend an exciting winter offer to our special guests:
This time of year with sunny skies and crisp nights is perfect for a relaxing time exploring the property and leisurely evenings around the fire. With our busy lifestyles we want to encourage you to stay close to home and retreat into the best that country life has to offer. Come stay for three nights or more* and we will provide you with a $100 fuel voucher. We know that petrol prices are rising, and want to extend this exciting winter special to sweeten the desire to getaway for a break. Should pampering be preferred over petrol, stay for three nights and get the second hour of your full body massage for free!
*Outside of school holidays and long weekends

~A Whale of a Time in Country Life~
The whales are migrating this time of year and many have been sighted from the local shores. The Dolphin watching boat cruise in Forster is a delightful way to spend the morning, and highly recommended for its views and morning tea. We have been fortunate with lovely beach walking weather to explore the pristine coastlines or enjoy the many trails around Clarendon. Our human and four-legged guest alike have been making great use of the property- especially the walks up the driveway where the liquid ambers have been blazing their glorious colours for the last eight weeks. The nights have been clear and the stars sparkling. The full moon during school holidays lit up the valley with its luminous glow- it was so bright you could see clear down to the horses grazing on the flats!

~Our baby foal becomes a Tiny Horse~

The riding school has been busy and all the horses are wintering well. Our miniature horse Tyler has grown into his comical personality and can now be found all over the property entertaining his ever inquisitive self. He has taken to sharing the resident border collie Minstrel’s enthusiastic greetings of the guests upon their arrival, and has even ‘chaperoned’ the big horses on a ride through the trails. He did his best to keep up and was most put out at not being allowed to follow us off the property for the component of the ride into beautiful Talawahl Nature Reserve. It is delightful to watch him growing up and maturing as he learns the proper behaviour befitting a Clarendon Equine!

~New Restaurants and Cafes~

A new restaurant called Ripples has opened along the Forster waterfront and is catering with pre ordered meals to the Clarendon cottages. For those of you on Barta card this adds to the list of great business offered on full trade within the local vicinity. A short Drive away in Nabiac the staff and guests are all enamoured with the unique vibe and delicious food available at Whatever Café. With indoor and outdoor dining and a casual ambiance we are sure this will become a favoured rest stop on the way to or from the retreat.

~ Investment Opportunity~

We would like to welcome our new owners of the Sanctuary, Adriane and Vassi Krekacs. They have some exciting plans for upgrading and making their sandstone cottage even more luxuriously comfortable.

If you have dreamed of owning a piece of Clarendon, there has never been a better time. The Summer House has come back onto the market priced for urgent sale. This gorgeous, fully furnished sandstone cottage on hectares is yours to use as your weekender as you wish and fully managed the rest of the time. The Council has approved the property for subdivision under Community Title. Vendor finance at attractive interest rates is available. Call Sharyn for details.

~Clarendon through the Canadian’s Eyes a.k.a.- Emma~
Hello dear guests. Well much to my delight I have been here five months, and am in complete, I repeat COMPLETE adoration with the Australian conception of winter! Blessed you are and this has made my time out on the trails a persistent delight. Despite the repeated assertions of Sharyn and Rex, I have yet to get weary of the landscape and hours in the saddle (though a busy school holidays certainly tested the boundaries of my endless enthusiasm). I am honoured to wake up each morning with this corner of paradise my office and to finish my workday with the sun setting on the hills. The views are not soon to be something I take for granted, and I am hopeful that this note brings back your sense of wonder at the surroundings as well.

May this email come at a time of dynamic growth and rejuvenation in your worlds, as it is also in ours.

Best wishes,
Rex and Sharyn Cox
And the Rest of the Clarendon Team
